I am Shreyasi* Das, a Bengali textile and mixed-media visual artist living and creating in Tiohtià:ke (colonially known as Montréal, Canada). My work weaves slow handcrafts and expressive arts to create gentle visual poetry. With a focus on composing soft and tenderhearted imagery, I experiment with harmonizing drawing, embroidery, weaving, and journaling in my practice. I use predominantly second-hand materials and intuitive processes, allowing my work to unfold and guide me. Highly sensitive, neurodivergent, and invisibly disabled, I celebrate the healing properties of art and craft. I prefer to stay away from the cutting edge of technology and decline working well under pressure.

That being said, I am currently employed as a Look Development artist for Feature Animation Films, but quietly working on a personal and experimental series, "Unburdening" (working title), combining textiles and frame-by-frame animation. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Animation from Rochester Institute of Technology, NY. I was raised in West Bengal, India.
